Training increases Warrior, Provider Resilience

The Army Center for Enhanced Performance (ACEP) trains and educates Soldiers, Department of the Army civilians and families to strengthen their minds and perform at their best when it matters most: in combat, healing after an injury, as well as managing work and home life — human performance optimization.

Program Joins Army Race Team to Develop Mental Strength Program

In the continuing spirit of the partnership between the U.S. Army and Stewart-Haas Racing (SHR), the No. 39 Army pit crew for Ryan Newman will work in tandem with the Army Center for Enhanced Performance (ACEP) in an effort to jointly develop a specified training regimen to strengthen the mental and emotional skills that underlie human performance excellence.

Training Provides Foundations to Strengthen Mind

Steve DeWiggins’ job is to get Soldiers into the same mental mindset as Olympians. An Olympian spends four years practicing for an event that will probably take less than a minute to complete. Take a bobsledder, for example. Up to the point that the gun goes off, the bobsledder is imagining winning gold by knowing every inch of the track, where the turns are located, and the amount of energy to apply to win.

What is CSF-PREP?

Comprehensive Soldier Fitness-Performance and Resilience Enhancement Program (CSF-PREP) provides a systematic way to build mental and emotional strength using scientifically tested, evaluated, and validated education methods from the fields of sport and performance psychology.

This program fills a recognized gap in the Army's doctrine and training that directly addresses the how,as in specifically developing the psychological attributes of the human dimension deemed critical to success on the battlefield and throughout life. CSF-PREP education seeks to provide Warriors, family members, and DA Civilians the skills to be self-regulating, instinctive, adaptive, and mentally agile under intense pressure, while contributing to personal hardiness and resilience.
